Does it require WooCommerce?
Section titled “Does it require WooCommerce?”Yes. WooCommerce must be installed and active.
Are tips taxed?
Section titled “Are tips taxed?”By default, no. You can enable tax on tips from the settings screen if your jurisdiction requires it.
How does a percentage tip work?
Section titled “How does a percentage tip work?”A percentage preset is calculated from the cart subtotal at the moment of selection and recalculated whenever the cart changes, so it always reflects the current order.
Where is the tip stored?
Section titled “Where is the tip stored?”The tip is added to the order as a standard WooCommerce fee, so it appears in the order totals, emails and reports. The amount is also saved as order meta for auditing.
Is tipping optional for customers?
Section titled “Is tipping optional for customers?”Yes. The default selection is “No tip”, keeping it fully opt-in — nothing extra is charged unless the customer actively chooses an amount.
Can shoppers enter their own amount?
Section titled “Can shoppers enter their own amount?”Yes, when you enable the custom-amount option. Otherwise they choose from your presets.
Where can the control appear?
Section titled “Where can the control appear?”On the cart page, the checkout page, or both — your choice in the settings.
Do the totals update without reloading?
Section titled “Do the totals update without reloading?”Yes. Selecting an amount recalculates the order totals live through WooCommerce’s own checkout AJAX, so the customer sees the up-to-date total before paying.
What happens if it is enabled but not configured?
Section titled “What happens if it is enabled but not configured?”It renders nothing. Tipping is graceful by design — if it is disabled or misconfigured, no broken control appears on the storefront.
Is it compatible with HPOS and the block cart/checkout?
Section titled “Is it compatible with HPOS and the block cart/checkout?”Yes. Tipping is compatible with WooCommerce HPOS (Custom Order Tables) and the Cart/Checkout Blocks.
Does it connect to any external services?
Section titled “Does it connect to any external services?”No. The tip is a native WooCommerce fee on your own store; nothing is sent to an external service.
How do I remove all plugin data?
Section titled “How do I remove all plugin data?”Deleting the plugin from the Plugins screen runs a clean uninstall. Tipping creates no custom database tables.
Free vs PRO
Section titled “Free vs PRO”The free edition is the full tipping control: fixed or percentage presets, an optional custom amount, cart/checkout placement, configurable copy, live totals and the optional taxable setting. Tipping PRO (planned) adds tip goals with progress bars, recipient/cause splitting, post-purchase tipping and reporting.
