Getting started
Most shops can add their first custom tab in a few minutes. Tabby ships ready — install, add a tab, open a product page.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- WordPress 6.5 or newer
- WooCommerce active (HPOS and Cart/Checkout Blocks supported)
- PHP 8.1 or newer
Install
Section titled “Install”- Install WooCommerce and make sure it is active.
- Install Tabby from the plugin directory (when live on WordPress.org) or upload the
tabbyfolder to/wp-content/plugins/. - Activate the plugin.
Add a global tab
Section titled “Add a global tab”Open WooCommerce → Tabby Tabs:
- Title — the tab label shown on every product.
- Content — safe, limited HTML (links, lists, headings, bold/italic, images, blockquotes). Scripts and unsafe markup are stripped on save and on render.
- Placement — choose whether your tabs appear before or after the native WooCommerce tabs.
Global tabs are perfect for shared content like shipping & returns, size guides, care instructions or warranty information.
Add a per-product tab
Section titled “Add a per-product tab”- Open any product in the editor.
- Find the Custom Product Tabs (Tabby) box.
- Add a tab with its own title and content — it shows only on that product.
Hide a global tab on one product
Section titled “Hide a global tab on one product”In the same Custom Product Tabs (Tabby) box, tick the global tabs you want to hide for that product. They keep showing everywhere else.
Verify on the storefront
Section titled “Verify on the storefront”- Open a single product page.
- Your custom tabs should appear in the tab list, before or after the native tabs as configured.
- Activate a tab and confirm the content renders.
Free vs PRO
Section titled “Free vs PRO”The free edition covers global tabs, per-product tabs, per-product hiding, configurable placement and safe HTML content.
Tabby PRO (planned) adds tab ordering, icons, conditional display rules and shortcode/block content inside tabs — not basic custom tabs.
