Reel Pro
Reel Pro is the planned premium edition for Reel. It is an add-on that requires the free Reel plugin installed and active; it is distributed through Freemius (licensing, activation and automatic updates), not the WordPress.org directory.
The 0.1.0 release is an early scaffold: it ships the licensing, bootstrap, activation and database-migration plumbing that the premium features will hook into. The features below are planned and not yet implemented.
Planned PRO features
Section titled “Planned PRO features”- 360-degree spin: drag/swipe-driven multi-frame product spin viewers with reserved space.
- Video autoplay rules: per-device, in-view and reduced-motion autoplay policy for product videos.
- CDN lazy media: offload spin frames and product video to a CDN and lazy-load them.
What the scaffold does today
Section titled “What the scaffold does today”- Boots only after the free Reel plugin has loaded and fired its
reel/bootedaction. - Verifies the free plugin is present and meets the minimum version, with admin notices when it is not.
- Registers premium services and hooks into the free plugin’s container (registries are empty placeholders for now).
- Runs version-tracked PRO activation defaults and database migrations.
- Declares WooCommerce HPOS and Cart/Checkout Blocks compatibility.
- Integrates the Freemius SDK for licensing, activation UI and automatic updates.
Relationship with Reel
Section titled “Relationship with Reel”Reel Pro extends the free Reel plugin. The free plugin provides hover zoom, the lightbox and a featured video; PRO adds the interactive 360-degree spin, autoplay control and CDN-backed lazy media that media-heavy and high-traffic stores ask for.
