Elektilo Pro

Elektilo Pro is the premium edition for Elektilo. It is an add-on that requires the free Elektilo plugin, version 1.2.0 or later, and WooCommerce, installed and active. It is distributed through Freemius (licensing, activation and automatic updates), not the WordPress.org directory.

If the free plugin is missing, deactivated, or older than 1.2.0, Elektilo Pro stays dormant and shows an admin notice instead of booting.

  • Multiple quizzes, create as many quizzes as you need under Elektilo > Quizzes > Add quiz. Each quiz has its own shortcode, [elektilo_quiz id="123"], shown in the Add to a page box once the quiz is saved, and can be added with the Elektilo quiz block. Only published quizzes appear on the storefront. The free [elektilo] quiz from Elektilo’s own settings screen keeps working next to them.
  • Multiple-choice questions, tick Several answers allowed on a question to show checkboxes instead of single-choice buttons.
  • Points table, add product rows (Add product) or category rows (Add category), then give each answer points for each row. See How products are chosen.
  • 1 to 12 products in the result, set Products in the result per quiz. Out-of-stock, hidden or unpurchasable products are skipped and the next one takes their place.
  • Email step, an optional step before the result that asks for an email address. See Email step and leads.
  • Leads, stored in your own database under Elektilo > Leads, with CSV export and WordPress personal data export and erasure. Nothing is sent to any outside service.
  • Statistics, Elektilo > Statistics shows per quiz and period what shoppers did. See Statistics.
  1. Go to Elektilo > Quizzes > Add quiz and give the quiz a title.
  2. In Questions and points, add questions with Add question. Each question has an optional hint and its answers (Add answer). Questions can be moved up and down.
  3. In the Points table, add the products or categories the quiz can recommend and fill in the points.
  4. In Quiz settings, set the heading, sub-heading, accent colour, the number of products in the result, whether to show the price, whether products open in a new tab, a fallback product and the email step.
  5. Publish, then paste the shortcode from Add to a page into a page, or add the Elektilo quiz block and pick the quiz.

Every answer the shopper picks adds its points to each row of the points table. A product row scores that product. A category row adds the same points to every product in that category, so one row can cover a large catalogue. A product’s score is the sum of everything that reached it.

  • An empty cell counts as zero. Negative points push a product down.
  • Products with a total of zero or less are never recommended.
  • Products are sorted by their total. Ties keep the order in which the product first appears in the points table, then the lower product ID, so put the safer pick first.
  • Availability is checked while walking down the ranking: a product that is not published, hidden from the catalogue, not purchasable or out of stock makes room for the next one, so the shopper still gets N products when N are available.
  • When no product scores any points, the Fallback product is shown, if it is available.
  • Category rows score at most the 200 newest products of a category.

PRO quizzes are points-based. The free quiz keeps its exact answer-combination map; PRO quizzes do not have one.

Tick Ask for an email in Quiz settings to add a step before the result.

  • Email required: when ticked, the shopper cannot skip the email step. This switch is enforced in the browser; the server always enforces consent.
  • Skip for logged-in customers (on by default): logged-in customers go straight to the result.
  • Link to customer accounts: when a guest leaves an email that belongs to an existing customer account, the lead is linked to that account. Logged-in customers are always linked.
  • Email step heading and Consent text: the text next to the consent checkbox is saved with every lead, so you can show later what the shopper agreed to.

A lead is saved only when the shopper ticks the consent box. Without it the browser does not send the address and the server refuses to store it. Each lead holds the date, the email, the quiz, the linked customer, the answers and the consent text.

Elektilo > Leads lists the leads with a quiz filter and a delete action. Export CSV downloads a UTF-8 CSV with the columns date_utc, email, quiz_id, quiz, customer_id, answers and consent_text. Leads are included in Tools > Export Personal Data and Tools > Erase Personal Data.

Elektilo Pro does not send any email and has no CRM or newsletter integration.

Elektilo > Statistics shows one quiz over the last 7, 30, 90 or 365 days. Only anonymous daily counts are stored: no IP address, session or email.

Number What it counts
Starts Shoppers who answered the first question. Counted at the first answer.
Completions Shoppers who reached the result. Counted when the result is requested.
Completion rate Completions divided by starts.
Emails left Leads saved with consent.
Result clicks Clicks on a recommended product, counted in the browser.
Add-to-cart clicks Clicks on the add-to-cart button of a recommended product, counted in the browser. This counts clicks on the button, not confirmed cart additions.

Below the numbers, Drop-off per step shows how many shoppers reached each step as a share of starts, and Answer distribution shows what shoppers picked, counted at completion. On multiple-choice questions the shares are of all picks. A Reset statistics for this quiz link deletes the quiz’s counts.

The free [elektilo] quiz is not counted in the statistics.

Result cards use the free plugin’s templates/result-card.php.

The public quiz endpoints check every answer against the quiz it belongs to and are rate limited per visitor, over a 10-minute window: 30 result requests, 5 lead submissions and 120 events. Change a limit with the elektilo-pro/rate_limit filter, which receives the limit and the endpoint bucket (result, lead or event):

add_filter( 'elektilo-pro/rate_limit', function ( $max, $bucket ) {
return 'lead' === $bucket ? 10 : $max;
}, 10, 2 );
  • WordPress 6.5 or later
  • PHP 8.1 or later
  • WooCommerce 8.0 or later
  • The free Elektilo plugin, version 1.2.0 or later, installed and active

The free plugin provides the [elektilo] quiz: single-choice steps, an answer-combination map and one recommended product. PRO adds multiple quizzes with points scoring, multiple-choice questions, several products in the result, the email step with leads and quiz statistics.
