Swatch Pro

Swatch Pro is the premium edition for Swatch. It is an add-on that requires the free Swatch plugin installed and active; it is distributed through Freemius (licensing, activation and automatic updates), not the WordPress.org directory.

Swatch Pro extends the free plugin’s variation swatch markup. It does not work on its own. If the free plugin is missing, deactivated, or older than the required version, Swatch Pro stays dormant and shows an admin notice instead of booting.

Shipping PRO features

Swatch Pro is feature-complete at image swatches, per-variation galleries, image swatches in the shop loop, rich tooltips and custom sizes/shapes.

  • Image swatches, product or variation images as thumbnail swatches via swatch/swatch_group_html and swatch/archive_html (ImageSwatches).
  • Per-variation gallery, comma-separated attachment IDs on each variation; thumbnail strip below the main gallery swaps the large image on click via swatch/variation_gallery (VariationGallery).
  • Image swatches in the shop loop (ArchiveSwatches). The loop swatches themselves are free: since Swatch 1.0.8 the free plugin renders colour and label swatches on shop, category, tag and product search listings, each linking to the product with that option preselected, behind the Swatches in the shop loop checkbox on WooCommerce > Swatch. What PRO adds is the term image in place of the colour chip, through the free plugin’s swatch/archive_html filter. PRO also answers swatch/archive_enabled, so with this module on the loop swatches render even when the free checkbox is clear; to keep the loop plain, clear the checkbox and switch this module off.
  • Rich tooltips, preview the colour chip, label and swatch image on hover and keyboard focus via swatch/product_swatch_html and swatch/archive_swatch_html (SwatchTooltips).
  • Custom sizes and shapes, per-attribute small/large sizing and circle, square, rounded or pill shapes via swatch/swatch_group_vars and swatch/swatch_group_classes (CustomSizing).

Relationship with Swatch

The free plugin provides colour and label swatches for variable products, on the product page and, when the merchant turns it on, in the shop loop. PRO adds image swatches on both surfaces, per-variation galleries, rich tooltips and per-attribute sizing. No further PRO wedges are planned beyond this release.
