Deposit scheme (system kaucyjny)
Poland’s deposit return system has applied since 1 October 2025. A shop selling a beverage in covered packaging charges a deposit on top of the price and shows it separately.
The module is off by default. Turn it on under Polski - Modules - Deposit scheme.
Covered packaging

These are the amounts the scheme set at launch. They are settings rather than fixed values, because the scheme’s operator can revise them without a change to this plugin.
Marking a product
Section titled “Marking a product”Edit the product and open Product data - General. Two fields appear:
- Packaging - which of the three categories the container falls into, or none.
- Units of packaging - how many covered containers one item holds. A six-pack is
6. A single bottle or can is1.
A variation inherits the parent product’s packaging unless it sets its own, so a drink sold in several sizes of the same bottle only needs filling in once.
What the shopper sees
Section titled “What the shopper sees”On the product page, a line under the price states the deposit and that it is refunded when the packaging is returned. You can replace that sentence in the module settings; use {amount} where the sum should appear.
At checkout the deposit is a single line covering the whole basket, so an order with twelve cans and three bottles shows one line of 7,50 zl rather than fifteen.
Why the line is untaxed
Section titled “Why the line is untaxed”The deposit sits outside the VAT base at the point of sale. VAT on unreturned packaging is settled annually by the scheme’s operator, not charged to the shopper at the till. The plugin therefore adds the checkout line as a non-taxable fee. Adding it as a taxable fee would overcharge every covered order.
What the module does not do
Section titled “What the module does not do”It does not decide which of your products are covered, register you with the scheme’s operator, or handle returns and refunds of deposits in a physical shop. It charges the deposit and shows it correctly on the order.
