Consumer information

Directive (EU) 2024/825 does two separate things. One half restricts environmental claims, which the Greenwashing module covers. The other half adds pre-contractual information the shopper must see before buying, and that is what this module adds. Both apply from 27 September 2026.

The module is off by default. Turn it on under Polski > Modules, entry Consumer information (2024/825).

Four things, only one of which WooCommerce shows on its own:

  • A reminder that the statutory guarantee of conformity applies. This is about the legal remedy every buyer already has, not about a commercial warranty.
  • The duration of a commercial guarantee of durability, where the producer offers one longer than the statutory period.
  • For goods with digital elements, how long free software updates are supplied.
  • Repair information, so a shopper can weigh repairability before buying.

The legal guarantee is a property of the law, not of the product, so it is a setting rather than a product field. Two options sit under the module:

SettingDefaultWhat it does
Show the legal guarantee reminderOnPrints the reminder in the consumer information block on every product page
Legal guarantee reminderBuilt-in textThe wording itself

The built-in wording is deliberately plain:

Goods sold in this shop are covered by the statutory guarantee of conformity. If the goods do not conform to the contract, you have the remedies provided by law, free of charge.

Replace it if your legal counsel prefers different phrasing, or if you sell to consumers under a national regime that words the remedy differently. Leaving the field empty restores the built-in text rather than printing nothing.

In the product editor, in the Polski panel, section Consumer information (2024/825).

Only fill this in where the producer actually offers a commercial guarantee of durability. Leave it empty when there is none. An empty field prints no row, which is the correct outcome: the directive does not want shops inventing durability promises, and the statutory guarantee is already announced by the reminder above.

For goods with digital elements, a smart scale or a connected doorbell for example, this is how long the producer supplies free updates. Leave it empty for goods with no digital element.

Free text. Use the repairability score where one has been established for the product category, otherwise say what a buyer needs in order to plan a repair: spare part availability, how long parts stay available, and where to ask.

A useful entry looks like this:

Repairability score 8.1 out of 10. Spare parts available for 7 years from the
end of production, ordered through [email protected]. Service manual on the
product page.

All three fields are in the WooCommerce product CSV, so a catalogue can be filled in without opening each product. Under Products > Export and Products > Import the columns are:

ColumnField
polski_durability_guarantee_monthsGuarantee of durability
polski_update_period_monthsFree software updates
polski_repair_infoRepair information

Month values are whole numbers. A negative value is stored as zero rather than printed as a negative guarantee.

The block appears on the single product page after the safety information and before the food information, so the legally required content stays grouped. It prints the reminder first, then only the rows that have a value:

Goods sold in this shop are covered by the statutory guarantee of conformity.
If the goods do not conform to the contract, you have the remedies provided by
law, free of charge.
Guarantee of durability 36 months
Free software updates 24 months
Repair information Spare parts available for 7 years

If the module is on but no product field is filled in and the reminder is switched off, nothing is printed at all.

The directive also provides for a harmonised label for the commercial guarantee of durability, so that the same mark means the same thing across the single market. The artwork and the rules for using it come from a separate implementing act. Until that is published, this module prints plain labelled rows rather than a mark that might have to be unlearned. The stored data does not change when the label arrives, so adopting it later is a display change, not a re-entry of your catalogue.

  • Greenwashing covers the environmental-claims half of the same directive
  • Right of withdrawal covers the return window, which is a different obligation
  • GPSR covers manufacturer and safety data, which sits in the block just above this one
