Durabix

Durabix shows a text reminder of the legal guarantee of conformity, a note on the producer durability guarantee and a repairability class badge on WooCommerce product pages. In the product editor it lists green claim phrases for you to review. This page describes Durabix 1.1.0.

Durabix shows its own text. It does not display the harmonised notice or the harmonised label of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 (see Legal background).

Requirements: WordPress 6.5, PHP 8.1, WooCommerce 8.0 or newer.

  1. Activate Durabix. The reminder is on right away and shows under the product summary on every product. Nothing has to be saved first.
  2. Edit a product. On the General tab of the product data box, fill in the durability guarantee and the repairability class where they apply, or hide the reminder on a product that is not a good.
  3. Check the Green Claims Phrase Check box in the sidebar of the product editor.
  4. Optional: open WooCommerce > EU Legal Guarantee to change the years, the placement or the reminder text.

WooCommerce > EU Legal Guarantee, available to users with the manage_woocommerce capability. All settings are stored in the durabix_settings option. The admin labels are given here as the plugin shows them without a translation.

Setting Default What it does
Enable legal guarantee reminder on Shows the reminder, the durability note and the repairability class on product pages. Off hides all three; the product fields and the green claims check keep working.
Statutory Guarantee Duration 2 Years in the reminder, from 2 to 10. Values outside the range are clamped.
Display Location Under single product summary Under single product summary (near add to cart): the reminder, note and badge print in the product summary (priorities 25, 26 and 27 on woocommerce_single_product_summary). In a dedicated product tab: a “Guarantee & Durability” tab (priority 35), added only when the product has something to show.
Custom Notice Override empty Your own reminder text, one line. It replaces the built-in reminder in every language as typed and ignores the duration setting. Leave it empty to use the built-in text.

On the General tab of the classic product editor, under “EU Legal Guarantee & Durability”:

Field Type Notes
Hide guarantee reminder checkbox Hides the reminder on this product, for example a download or a service. It is never set automatically.
Commercial Durability (Years) number, 3 or more Only for a producer commercial guarantee of durability at no extra cost lasting more than two years. A value of 2 or less is not saved.
Producer / Brand Name text Who offers the durability guarantee. When empty, the note says “The manufacturer”.
Repairability Class (A - E) None, A, B, C, D, E For a smartphone or slate tablet only. Leave it at None for every other product.

The fields are stored as product meta (_durabix_exempt_guarantee, _durabix_durability_years, _durabix_durability_producer, _durabix_repair_score) on the parent product. Variations have no fields of their own. The block-based product editor is not supported. A number saved as a repairability score by Durabix 1.0.x is not shown.

On the single product page, in the place chosen under Display Location:

  • EU Statutory Legal Guarantee: “You are entitled by law to a legal guarantee of conformity from the seller, free of charge, for at least 2 years. National law may provide a longer period.” The number follows the duration setting. Shown on every product unless the product hides it, or replaced by your custom text.
  • Durability Guarantee: “Fairline offers a 5-year commercial guarantee of durability at no extra cost.”, with the producer and years you enter. Shown only when the product has more than two years entered.
  • Repairability class: a badge reading “Repairability class: B (A to E, Regulation (EU) 2023/1669)”, green for A and B, yellow for C, orange for D and red for E. Shown only when a class is set.

Nothing appears in shop or category listings, the cart, the checkout or order emails. The texts are plain text and are translatable through WordPress.org language packs. Durabix loads no scripts and makes no external requests.

A Green Claims Phrase Check box in the sidebar of the product editor reads the product title, description, short description, attribute values and the descriptions of up to 100 variations of a variable product. The products a grouped product lists are not read. When a product has more than 100 variations, the box says how many were checked.

It looks for four groups of phrases in English, Polish, German and Spanish, including inflected forms:

Group Examples Annex I point
Climate neutral climate neutral, carbon neutral, CO2 neutral, neutralny klimatycznie, klimaneutral, neutro en carbono 4c
Eco-friendly or ecological eco-friendly, environmentally friendly, przyjazny dla środowiska, ekologiczny, umweltfreundlich, ecológico 4a
Biodegradable biodegradable, biodegradowalny, biologisch abbaubar 4a
Climate positive or net zero climate positive, carbon positive, net zero, pozytywny klimatycznie, klimapositiv 4c

Each match is listed with the matched text, a short explanation and the Annex I point. It is a list to review, not a legal assessment: a match is not a breach in itself, and no match does not mean the page complies, because only these phrases are checked.

Durabix shows text and a list of phrases. Whether a shop meets the rules below depends on the national law that transposes them and on what the shop shows.

  • Dates. Directive (EU) 2024/825, art. 4(1): Member States apply the transposing measures from 27 September 2026. In Poland the transposing act, Dz.U. 2026 poz. 1353, enters into force on 27 September 2027 (art. 3).
  • Legal guarantee reminder. Directive 2011/83/EU, art. 6(1)(l): before a distance contract the trader gives a reminder of the legal guarantee of conformity for goods and its main elements, including its minimum duration of two years, in a prominent manner, using the harmonised notice referred to in Article 22a.
  • Durability guarantee. Directive 2011/83/EU, art. 6(1)(la): where the producer offers a commercial guarantee of durability at no additional cost, covering the entire good and lasting more than two years, and makes that known to the trader, the trader gives that information using the harmonised label referred to in Article 22a.
  • Digital content and services. Directive 2011/83/EU, art. 6(1)(lb): a separate reminder of the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and digital services. Durabix does not show it.
  • Notice and label. Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 sets the design and content of the harmonised notice in Annex I (art. 1) and of the harmonised label in Annex II (art. 2), and applies from 27 September 2026 (art. 3). Durabix shows neither.
  • Green claims. Point 4a of Annex I to Directive 2005/29/EC, inserted by Directive (EU) 2024/825, bans a generic environmental claim for which the trader cannot demonstrate recognised excellent environmental performance relevant to the claim. Point 4c bans claiming, based on the offsetting of greenhouse gas emissions, that a product has a neutral, reduced or positive greenhouse gas impact.
  • Repairability class. Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/1669 sets the repairability class of smartphones and slate tablets from A (most repairable) to E (least repairable). Art. 1 excludes mobile phones and tablets with a flexible main display the user can roll up or unroll, and smartphones for high security communication.

Deleting the plugin removes the durabix_settings option and the four product meta keys listed above, on every site of a multisite network.

  • No harmonised notice or harmonised label: Durabix shows its own text reminder and text note.
  • No reminder for digital content and digital services.
  • Single product page only; nothing in listings, cart, checkout or emails.
  • One set of fields per product; no per-variation fields.
  • Classic product editor only.
  • The green claims check covers four groups of phrases and is not a legal assessment.
